I’m Nicola Schofield, a highly trained professional dancer and choreographer. I trained at Laine Theatre Arts College, graduating in 2005, and have spent the past 14 years working internationally as a professional dancer. I started my career on a US and Canadian tour then returned to the UK and worked in West End and touring productions such as We Will Rock You, What a Feeling, Mack and Mabel, 42nd Street Gala and White Christmas. I was then employed by 2Entertain Norway for four years onboard Color Line Cruises.
Possibly my greatest achievement was performing in the original cast of We Will Rock You, where I performed in Zurich for a year and then toured with the show across Europe.
I have also choreographed numerous shows, one of which was Showtime! The Musical, at The Spa Theatre, Bridlington as well as pantomimes, events, and galas. I also loved performing in many pantomimes, oh yes I did!! The most recent was Snow White at the Victoria Theatre, Halifax.
My career has also included TV and film work. However, when not performing myself, my love of dance and theatre has been channelled into my teaching.
Whilst based in London, I taught street dance at the Royal Academy of Dance (RAD) sister company Step into Dance, and taught tap at the prestigious Italia Conti Kids. I also gave many private lessons all over London and surrounding areas, including several celebrity clients! I also worked for Funky Moves Dance, providing energetic dance parties for children, which I just loved; I’m not sure who had the most fun, the children or me !
I’m now based in Yorkshire, teaching at a fabulous school where I myself trained as a child, called Sutton School of Performing Arts. I teach tap and musical theatre to children aged from 2 to 18 and form part of their choreography team. It’s an amazing school where I feel honoured to work with such talented and hard-working children.
I’m also a freelance dance and musical theatre teacher and choreographer. I have been privileged to choreograph We Will Rock You for CAPA Juniors, Cathedral Academy of Performing Arts, Wakefield. I also work closely with Wakefield Girls High School, The Dance Mill and Old School Dance Works in Halifax, and Defy Gravity Dance in Stoke on Trent, providing tap, jazz and musical theatre lessons and choreography pieces.
My style is friendly and enthusiastic aiming is to make dancing fun for everyone, whatever the occasion. I’m fully DBS checked and run classes that are great fun while also structured to ensure they deliver the desired results. If you would like to work with me, please get in touch!
